This keepsake box is a gorgeous, one of a kind piece, upcycled from a broken Pier One bible box I found in a thrift shop. It has been rebuilt and fixed, though I left some of the natural and charismatic wood flaws. The details are cast in archival quality resin and the whole thing has been hand painted in burgundy, violet and peony chalk paint and lavender/gold color shift acrylic paint. I sealed it with clear sealing wax, aged it with black decorator wax and gilded every detail in a soft, antiqued gold. I kept the original hardware. The hinges are really interesting because they hold the box opened at a perfect angle so it will not snap back down on your fingers while you are looking within.
